Proverbs 22:6  – Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

I am glad my parents thought how to stand alone and taking responsibility of myself; at the early age I started to care for myself and relieve my parents from taking care of me. I learn to invest at the age of 16 and started reading books that will enhance my life and not just filling up my brains with knowledge. I earn my first money on my own at the age of 12 working in the wet market. I do any work anywhere just make sure I can make money and pay my own school fees and education; I decided not to burden my parents as they are very poor with 7 Children to care for.

Taking Responsibility & Being Accountable

The day we cross from the stage of dependency to the stage of independence no longer under our parents’ charge, we automatically assume responsibility to take care of our own time line. This requires a sense of duty and care to plan and be responsible for our own futures. Nonetheless, we have seen so many who simply live day-to-day, without much thought and preparation for the future. In many instances, when reality finally catches up with them, they get caught off-guard and suffer the pain consequential of their careless attitude.  Take steps to look at your own time line. Have a moment of review, reflection and evaluation about your journey thus far and also contemplate on your journey ahead. Take a moment to ponder and seriously consider the needs for change, adaptation or even reinventing yourself to be better prepared for the future –your future.

I realise that I am the master and the owner of my timeline and I am also aware that I need to minimise mistakes along the timeline which is critical so that I will have a better life.

Just like the story of the master and the servants – if you do not take responsibility to be accountable to the resources, gifts and talents that are entrusted with you, then whatever you have will also be taken away from you.

Are you organised? Are you taking steps to move forward? Your time line is dynamic and must be handled with care. Your own failure to acknowledge and accept Accountability and Responsibility will ruin your loved ones who are dependent on you and also the older person that you will be someday.  My parents’ ignorance or failure to take Accountability and Responsibility changed the future of my family. The cost of oversight or denial can be very painful with long-lasting implications.

Five stepsto start with in taking charge of your future:

–           Have a plan
–           Identify your present resource position
–           Allocate your resources at the right places with the right advice
–           Establish a series of capital preservation programs and enhance your    savings as you move towards the retiree stage.
–           Institute a proper distribution and succession plan for your loved ones.

Medical doctors examine, diagnose and treat patients. They can specialize in a number of medical areas, such as pediatrics, anesthesiology or cardiology, or they can work as general practice physicians. Becoming a medical doctor requires earning a doctoral degree in medicine and participating in clinical rotations. They have a serious responsibility to save lives. Like with teachers and Pilots – if they screw up???? many will suffer  or even death.

What about you? Have you taken responsibility for your well-being – financially, spiritually, physically, mentally and family? When is the last time you took time to evaluate yourself and truly care for yourself. The man in the mirror is the most important person than anything else there is in this earth…take time to love the person in the mirror and ensure that the person in the mirror takes full responsibility and becomes accountable to all his/her actions.

If you are parents out there – do remember –

Proverbs 22:6  – Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
